Theology and Theological Education Committees 1953-1972; 1963-1972.

The records contain the proceedings of the three committees noted above. They are separated by committee, and records pertaining to each committee are arranged chronologically. The records of the Theological Committee contain minutes, correspondence, and doctrinal statements prepared for study. The CSTE files also contain a few minutes but are mostly composed of papers debating the issues of forms of theological education. The CSTE was disbanded in 1967. The CTICR papers include minutes, correspondence, several drafts of a confession of faith, and many doctrinal papers as well as the study documents used by the committee in preparing the papers. The papers are filed by the name of the doctrine unless written in Pidgin without translation. A new correspondence file was started at the close of each committee meeting. Hence the date on a file indicates it contains all correspondence from the time of the last meeting until the date on the folder. There is one additional file for the United Church of Melanesia Committee on Church Union, an ecumenical attempt to establish a united church.
